oil on acetate

First off what is Acetate? Acetate is a general term that defines any plastic film which comes from a material called cellulose acetate and form it into sheets that are 0.1 mm to 0.7 mm thick. It is produced from natural sources like cotton or wood chips. Think of is as a durable, clear, shiny and transparent sheet of plastic.
I love the challenge of painting on acetate! The first application of paint on acetate would be the last application of paint I would apply on canvas. It is a painting in reverse,  the side I paint on is not the side you see. The effect is an amazing crispness and glow of the colors. There is a scientific thought process for me when working with acetate.
